Born in 1928, Yves de Saint-Front is a listed painter
of landscapes, portraits, and interiors.
His father, Norman Durand of Saint Front, also known as
Marin Mary, was a marine painter and had a great influence on his son in
both in terms of art and a family tradition of sailing. Like Gauguin,
Saint-Front spent time in the South Pacific visiting Tahiti, and became a
painter of note there, having one of his paintings put on a postage stamp.
Artur Gilles was a friend of the painter who
accompanied him during his stay in Tahiti and edited a documentary film on
Gauguin. Yves des Saint-Front died in 2011.
