Listed California painter William Hamilton, Junior was born in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1901, and moved to Los Angeles, California in 1915.

He studied at the Clay School of Art, the Throop Institute and privately with Edgar Payne. He sold his Post-Impressionist paintings through the Ainslie Gallery, and often painted with Gray Bartlett. He was a member of the California Art Club, Painters and Sculptors of Los Angeles, and the San Fernando Artists Guild.

He spent his final years as a resident of Mission Viejo until his death in 1984.
