Robert Bonfils is a listed illustrator and fine art painter.

Born in 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri, Robert Bonfils was encouraged by his parents to express his artistic talents. His art class teacher, Mabel Hewitt, had a knack for launching her high school students into career paths in the arts, and Robert won a scholarship to the Kansas City Art Institute.

 After serving in World War II, he returned to Chicago where he learned the business of commercial art. He also became an illustrator for Greenleaf Books during the 1960's to the 1970's.
