Born in 1938, Reed Thomason is a multi-talented listed artist who was active in New York, California, and Ohio.

A scholarship student at Syracuse University, he studied portraiture with John Teyral at the Cleveland Institute of Art. He was known as a book illustrator, muralist, set and costume designer. During his years in the Cleveland, Ohio area, he taught at the Cooper School of Art and the Cleveland Institute of Art, and worked as an illustrator for the American Greetings card company. He died in 2009.
