Raymond Howell is a listed California painter and
photographer, born in 1927 in Oakland, California.
He was a well-known fixture in the San Francisco Bay area,
and exhibited his works in Boston, Cape Cod, Chicago, and Los Angeles. He
showed an early interest in art as a child, and as an African-American, he
served as a role model for promoting art education opportunities for
minority children. In 1999, Stanford University presented a forty year
retrospective of his work. He died in 2002.
