Born in 1909, 32, Rafael Coronel is one of Mexico's most acclaimed artists, who followed his own path finding inspiration from Baroque era artists such as El Greco, Francisco Goya, as well as Francis Bacon.

Rafael Coronel was educated in Mexico City, following in the footsteps of his older brother. His first exhibit in 1952 won him the first place prize and a scholarship at La Esmeralda. His works have been exhibited worldwide and his style has become instantly recognizable.
