Paul Dougherty is a very well listed painter active in
California, France, and New York that is known for his marine and coastal
landscapes, and still life paintings.
Born in 1877 in Brooklyn,. New York, he studied at the
Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute before studying with Robert Henri in Europe.
He was quite successful in his lifetime, selling out his paintings at
various exhibitions, and winning numerous prizes. His works are in many
museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and his artwork has sold
at auction for as much as $47,500.00.
He died in 1947.
