It is rare to see one of Otto Eglau's modernistic etchings in the United
States. One hundred percent of the auction activity for this artist has taken
place in Germany.
Born in Berlin, Germany in 1917, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in
Berlin as well. He was widely traveled and most known for both his paintings and
etchings. In 1957 he was awarded a prize for his works in the first Bienniale
Exposition Internationale De Gravure in Tokyo, Japan, and honored with the Order
of Merit from the Federal Republic of Germany in 1981. He died in 1988.
