Marius Carion is a listed Belgian painter known for his
Industrial landscapes, portraits, and still life.
Born in 1898, Marius Carion grew up in Wasmes, Belgium,
an industrial community devoted largely to coal mining. His father died when
he was young, and he took sundry jobs until he turned 17, when he attended
classes at the School of Arts and Crafts in Saint-Ghislain and later at the
Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Mons.
His first exhibit of eighty works was in Wasmes in
1923. He died in 1949.
