Madelaine Pereny was born in Kecskemet, Hungary a
Baroness in 1893, and had her early education in Luzern, Switzerland.
She later studied at the Art Academy in Vienna,
Austria, and emigrated to the United States in the early 1930's. She became
a cartoonist for the Disney Studios and created cover art and illustrations
for The New Yorker magazine. One of Madelaine Pereny's works is in
the collection of the San Diego Museum of Art, and many others are in the
collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and her immediate family
She died in La Jolla, California in 1970.
