Leonard Baskin is an important, influential, Mid Twentieth Century American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and teacher born in 1922 in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

He was educated at the Academy de la Grand Chaumiere in Paris, France, the New School for Social Research in New York, and the Yale School of Fine Art. He exhibited his work at the Guggenheim Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

He died in 2000.
