Born in 1905, Karl Gasslander  is a well-listed Illinois painter, printmaker, and teacher.

He attended Northwestern University and earned an MFA from at Columbia University in New York City, New York. He taught at the Dallas Art Institute and Northwestern University as a professor of Art & Design. He also served as the art critic for the Evanston Daily News-Index.

His work was exhibited at the State Fair of Texas in 1929, the Art Institute of Chicago, PAFA and the Philadelphia Watercolor Club. A Gasslander painting was seen prominently in the television series Will & Grace. He died in 1997.
