This is an early impressive work by the listed young Philadelphia, Pennsylvania artist John Joseph Formicola, who was born in wartime 1941.

Paintings by this artist are in the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts and the Woodmere Art museum. While this work is in the style of the French Modernists, the bulk of his paintings are Geometric Expressionist.

He has owned his own art gallery in Philadelphia for many years and is a Professor of Visual Studies at Drexel University In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
