John E. Lynch is a listed California painter and teacher, Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1914.

He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and the Barnes Foundation, and had a studio in Philadelphia with his friend James Kelly. After active duty during World War II, he studied in Mexico under the well-known Mexican masters in Sam Miguel Allende and at the Instituto Politecnico Nacional in Mexico City.

In 1951 he moved to San Francisco, and became very active in the art scene in the City and in Marin County where he resided for the remainder of his life, until 2001.
