Born in 1911 in England, James Fry is a listed English painter known for his pastels of the English countryside.

James Fry worked in oils and pastels and specialized in painting the Purbeck region of Dorset, England. His works are often confused in the United States with another American artist of the same name.

Almost all of the paintings on AskArt.com are by the English James Fry but are wrongfully attributed to the American artist James Fry.

He died in 1985.
