Born in 1925, Jae Carmichael was an eclectic California
artist, writer, and independent film maker. She was the founding Director of
Pasadena's Pacific Asia Museum.
As a painter, sculptor, and photographer, she had more than
200 solo exhibitions in galleries located in Los Angeles, California, Japan and
Europe. Her works are included in the permanent collections of the Oakland
Museum, the Long Beach Museum of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art,
among others. She died in 2005.
