Helen E. Coan is a listed California artist known for her series of paintings of California Missions.

Born in 1859 in Byron, New York, she grew up in Michigan and studied with William M. Chase and Frederick Freer at the Art Students League in New York City, New York. During her career she also worked as an illustrator and authored a series of fairy tale books.

Her works were shown at the Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois, the California State Fair, the Alaska - Yukon - Pacific Exposition in Seattle, Washington, and the Panama - California Exposition in San Diego, California. She died in 1938.
