An acclaimed California watercolorist who contributed to the California
style movement, Gerald Gleeson was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1915,
and studied at the Rhode Island School of Design.
After World War II, he spent a year studying in Mexico
before settling in Berkeley, California and studying at the California
School of Arts and Crafts. His watercolors were featured in the two
ground-breaking boos on the California Style in 1985 and 2002. His scenes of
Oakland have sold at auction for as much as $4,700.00 He died in 1986.
