George Grosz is a very well listed painter, illustrator, sculptor and muralist.

Born in Germany in 1893, he studied at the College of Arts and Crafts in Berlin and at the Royal Academy of Art in Dresden. Bitterly anti-Nazi, he accepted an invitation to to teach at the Art Student's League in New York and in 1933 he officially emigrated. In 1954 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Disillusioned that he was primarily known as a satirist in the United States, he returned to Germany in 1958, but died six weeks after his return in a drinking-related accident. Original works by George Grosz have sold at auction for as much as $1,477,680.00. He died in 1959.
