These are early works by accomplished painter and
lithographer Frederic Watts.
Frederic Watts was born in Indiana, and studied at the
University of Cincinnati and the art Academy of Cincinnati as a scholarship
student. He studied under artists such as Frank Duveneck, Herman Wessell,
John Weisz and James Hopkins. His career focused on commercial work for
lithography houses, producing fashion drawings and circus posters. He was a
member of the Pasadena Society of Artists, the California Print Makers, and
the Fine Arts Club of Pasadena.
