 Born in 1904, Florence Bartley Smithburn is a well-listed Indiana artist known for her paintings, prints, and graphic design.

She studied at the John Herron Art School in Indianapolis, Indiana, and started exhibiting her work in 1925 with major exhibitions like Chicago, Illinois,  Saint Louis, Detroit, Michigan, and elsewhere.

She was a member of the Hoosier Salon, the Indiana Art Association, and the Chicago Institute of Art. She moved to New York City, New York in 1930 and continued her studies at the Art Students League. Exhibiting widely, she had shows at the Argent Galleries in New York, and the John Herron Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana. She died in 1989.
