Listed painter, illustrator and printmaker Fermin Rocker was born in 1907 in London, England, the son of a German father and Russian mother.

His father was one of the foremost anarchists of the early 20th Century, and had a profound influence on his son. Fermin Rocker attended the Berlin School of Arts and Crafts, and apprenticed as a lithographer.

He came to the United States in 1929, working as a freelance commercial artist, and exhibited his work at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum, and the Chicago Art Institute. Several of his works are in the collection of the Library of Congress. He died in 2004.
