Fermin Revueltas was a well known Mexican painter,
muralist, and printmaker, born in Santiago, Papasquiaro in 1901.
in 1910, he and his family moved to Guadalajara where
Fermin received his first drawing lessons. During the Mexican Revolution,
Revueltas was sent to Saint Edward's College in Austin, Texas, but two years
later he was moved to Chicago, Illinois where he took art classes at the
Chicago Institute of Art.
Reunited with his family in the 1920's, Fermin enrolled
at the Escuela de Pintura al Air Libre in Mexico City. He was very prolific
during this period, established a friendship with Diego Rivera, but died
prematurely at the age of 34 with many works unfinished.
He died in 1934.
