Bjorn Rye is a listed California painter known for his
Tonalistic landscapes and Fauvist figural works.
Born in Los Angeles, California in 1942, Rye was raised
in Utah and traveled widely in his youth. He studied art history and
creative writing at Columbia University with his BA achieved in 1973, and
received an MA at New York City College in 1974. The writer of several
novels, he returned to the Santa Barbara, California in 1989 and
painted landscapes for sell-out shows in New York City, San Francisco, and
Santa Barbara in 1997 and 1998, the year he died. His works have sold at
auction for as much as $6,600.00.
