Born in 1928, Bernard Buffet was an acclaimed "School of Paris" artist by the age of 20.

He worked as a painter, etcher, lithographer, designer and sculptor who produced still life, landscapes and portraits all in a somber yet unique style for post WWII Europe.

Facing severe health problems, he committed suicide in 1999. In 2012, one of his paintings sold at auction for a record $2,576,770.00.
