Bentley Schaad is a listed, influential Twentieth
Century modernist painter and art educator.
Born in 1925 in Los Angeles, California, he studied at
the Jepson Art Institute, the Art Center in Pasadena, and the Claremont
Colleges. He was part of a Modernist group of California artists that
included Henry Lee Mcfee, Rico LeBrun, and Richard Haines. He taught at the
Otis Art Institute and wrote the book The Realm of Contemporary Still
Life Painting. He died in 1999.
