This is a charming work that would make a great addition to someone's collection of portrait paintings.

Found in the collection of a Pasadena, California art and antiques dealer, it interestingly gives the impression of an unfinished work, but the negative space of the board gives adds interest to the composition of the faces of both the man and the dog.
