Born in 1920, Alfred Russell is a listed New York City painter
whose work was exhibited at the Whitney Museum, the Peridot Gallery, the
Sidney Janis Gallery and the Kootz Gallery, all in New York.
He studied at the Art Students League and earned a Masters Degree in Art
from Columbia. He was also a pupil of Stanley William Hayter, and was active
in the art circles in both New York and Paris.
Russell taught at Brooklyn College for nearly thirty years, and died in 2007.
