This work was created at the height of massive student-led
demonstrations that spread across Mexico to protest a repressive government
supported by the United States government and the Pentagon.
Born in 1927, Adolpho Mexiac is an important Mexican artist known for his
political and socially themed works. He studied along with fellow artist
Leopoldo Mendez at the Taller de Grafica Popular, and learned engraving at the
Escuela des Artes del Libro in Colonia Roma.
